We have CS23 on the site. The current book also has the CS22, and I never gave it a page. Not a 2026 launch. The new boats this month are the R26s. The CS22 is the compact CS sterndrive sitting under the CS23 we already cover: 22′ 5″, 8′ 6″ beam, 52 gallons, no head. Factory line is “Refined Simplicity. Built For The water.” Club line: it is the smallest sterndrive Cobalt is building right now.
There is no CS22 Surf. Surf in this series stops at CS23 Surf. There is no CS22 Coastal. If you wanted a tower and ballast in the low 23s, the factory printed the CS23 Surf, not this one. I am not going to talk you into a bigger boat. Plenty of club members have been happy in the low 22s since the 220 / 22-foot numeric days. This is the current name for that size.

I am not picking a fake capacity. The card says 12. The spec list says 12 persons / 11 persons. Both are Cobalt’s. Dry weight just under 4,000 lbs is the lightest boat in this week’s stack, and it is the one a lot of you can actually tow with the truck you already own. Fifty-two gallons is close to the R4’s 50. No freshwater number is on the spec list, so I am not inventing one. No head. Same honest warning I wrote on the R4: these are shorter days unless you like planning around a marina restroom.
Power starts smaller than the R-series. Volvo and Merc lists open at 250 hp and stop at 350. Monsoon is the 350 only. No 380, no 430. That matches the size. Garmin 743 GPS is on the standard dash list (one screen as written, not the dual glass cockpit of the R boats). Flip-down swim step is standard. Obsidian windshield is the design signature they are pushing. Wave style-line on the hull. Dual Garmin is described as optional in the interior copy. I am not dumping Zenith arches, E-Step, and sound packages. Factory page has those.
CS series was always the “still a Cobalt, a little less boat” conversation on this club. I do not mean that as an insult. I mean it as the reason people stay in the brand when the R boats get heavy and expensive to keep. I have no prices to quote, and I will not invent them. What I do have is a 22′ 5″ sterndrive with Kevlar in the hull, 3,943 lbs on the card, and a 12-person plate that the fine print also writes as 11. If you stepped out of a 22-foot numeric Cobalt into this, I want to know whether it still feels like the small boat or whether Cobalt quietly made it a 24.
