We posted the sterndrive R8. The current book also has the R8 Surf, and I never gave it a page. Not new for 2026. Same 27′ 10″ length, same 8′ 6″ beam, same 80-gallon tank, Yacht Certified, head yes. Different job. This is the surf sibling: Surf Gate, Volvo Penta Forward Drive, and a printed ballast number, 2,350 lbs.
That is the heavy tank in the current surf stack I can actually quote. R26 Surf is 810 lbs. R4 Surf is 1,226. CS23 Surf is 1,244. R33 Surf and R35 Surf do not get ballast tanks at all. The R8 Surf is the one with the big number. I have not surfed behind it. If you have, tell me whether 2,350 lbs and a Forward Drive actually make a pocket you want to stay in.

Siblings: R8 is the sterndrive. R8 Coastal is the outboard (125 gallons on that card). R8 Surf is this boat. Same 8′ 6″ beam as the R4 / R26 / CS pack, so the trailer story does not change. No dry weight, draft, or engine list on the card I copied, so none here. The “26” is still shorter than this boat. If you have been shopping by the letter-number, stop. Measure LOA.
