We posted the sterndrive R8. The current book also has the R8 Coastal, and I never wrote it. Product-page title is R8 Coastal. Same 27′ 10″ length, same 8′ 6″ beam, Yacht Certified, head yes. The tank is the difference: 125 gallons on the outboard card, 80 on the sterndrive. Not a 2026 launch.
Coastal Edition saltwater package, as printed: stainless, sealed electrics, water management, coastal GPS, carpet-free storage, redundant bilge, self-bailing cockpit. Siblings: R8 is the sterndrive. R8 Surf is the wake boat. R8 Coastal is this outboard. Same trailer beam as the R4 / R26 / CS pack. The “26” is still shorter than this boat. Measure LOA.
Factory specs
- LOA: 27′ 10″
- Beam: 8′ 6″
- Fuel: 125 gal
- Capacity: Yacht Certified
- Head: yes
One hundred twenty-five gallons is a real step up from the sterndrive R8’s 80 if you actually leave the bay. I do not have dry weight, draft, or an engine list on the card I copied, so those lines are not here. Factory page for the outboard chart. I like this size on paper. It is closer to the 276 we got excited about in 2009 than the new 26 is, at least on the tape, with motors on the transom instead of a drive under it.
If you are running an R8 Coastal, send pictures to editor@mycobalt.net. I live in the Seattle area. If this one meant the old boat came out of the slip, $25 / $50 here. This post is not an ad for an R8 Coastal.
